Weighting for very deep dives

A quick question for the tech gurus among you:

As some of you guys saw at the Scuba Show my company is developing Jetboots, a new underwater propulsion system. The standard flexible battery pack is only rated to around 150', so we've developed a hard battery pack good to depths greater than 300'. This battery pack has a negative bouyancy of around -11 lbs and straps to the tank(s) or rebreater and is very streamlined. As currently designed it does not have a quick release feature.

Is a quick release feature that could ditch 11 lbs of the system's negative bouyancy a necessary feature for tech dives way past the depths of swimming emergency asents? It would likely be a pretty cumbersome ditching system, so I'd like your opinions if it is necessary.
