Ditchability is desireable, all other things equal. Not only is the issue of buoyancy relevant, but the ability to remove a piece of gear which may have caused entanglement/entrapment or has malfunctioned is critical. Please note that "ditachable" and "quick release" are not synonomous. Quick releases often do just that-at the wrong time.
