if you want seal and sea lion encounters, santa
barbara isle is a good bet, as well as down at
the coronados isles off mexican waters (take san
diego charters for that).
as for charters, though i've been told recently that
the prices went up--ouch!!!!--here is a list of
more popular ones; note: they are the larger boats
that carry more folks, but i tend to like them. if you
want smaller boats (ie, 6-packers, etc), you
will have to find other recommendations for that.

**peace
**truth aquatics fleet
**liberty
((personally, i've been on the 'great escape',
'encore', 'peace', and the truth boat 'conception')
pick up a copy of the free monthly called 'california
diving news' for yourself. you can find it at any
dive shop. this journal will keep you updated
on the goings on of local, statewide diving.
