On the other side of the coin, I do not believe it is illegal to take one, hence the idea of damaging or destroying another diver's equipment should result in appropriate legal recourse to the offending individual. Anyone that attempts to damage or destroy my personal property would be wise to run like hell as I do not have a lot of confidence in the courts to deal with such things.

On the lighter side, a close friend of mine once had an unexpected encounter with a rather large torpedo ray. The ray shocked him on the shoulder and the intensity of the shock melted all his amalgam fillings. As usual, the fish wins in the long run.
