The boats owner has over 30 years experience driving boats. He started with a 20 ft. Luhrs and has gradually moved up to a 40ft Ocean. He, however, doesn't dive. He bought the boat to fish. If I want to dive, I have to decide where to go. He doesn't want to go to Catalina for a few hours so that I can dive until we have completed a few successful dives from the boat in local waters (dare I say "overly saftey conscious"). I realize that diving from a private boat is different from diving off of a dive boat. We just want to make sure we are doing everything correctly before taking off for a long trip.
