Use and learn the tables, as your air consumption decreases and your bottom times increase then get one. Divers that use the modern computers conservatively and make slow ascents and safety stops rarely get bent. I would consider the Suunto or the new Uwatec Ultra which is designed to give credit for deep stops. I like the console/air integraded type because it can't get lost like a wrist mounted ones. Most computers today can download profiles for electonic logbooks which is a good learning tool and be sent to DAN for scientific research.
