I can't tell you how many times I've heard from students that "I have (or am buying) a computer, I don't need to know the tables".
What ever happened to learning and mastering basic theory? I can't imagine relying soley on a battery powered piece of plastic to get you in and out of potential life threatening enviornments. If you can't pay enough attention to a depth gauge, timer and a dive plan in the first place, how are you going to deal with the information that a computer presents? Too much instant gratification these days I guess.
