i dont dive without a dive computer, Mr. MuckDiver Bill. the dive computer is about 10% more conservative than DSAT/PADI, which is in turn about 25% more conservative than the USN tables. that way i am always safe.
diving without a dive computer in this day and age of electronic wizardry would be uncivilized. i change the battery whenever it just starts to indicate a low reading, just enough to get the dive store owner to agree to do the battery change, which he doesnt ever really seem to want to do, since it is not as lucrative as selling a drysuit.
would i use on-the-fly calculations to dive with on a deep wreck without a dive computer? two words:
