try a weight belt with 1/3 of your total weights on it

the others are right: you need to be able to doff-and-don you B/C underwater. kelp entanglement is the main reason. it could happen to you. your buddy keeps swimming, loses you, then surfaces, and you are all alone entangled in kelp.

the uncontrolled buoyancy problem is not as bad if you split your total weights into thirds, then wear 1/3 of it on a weight belt, and the other 2/3ds on your B/C integrated. but that is an advanced technique, and it may not be appropriate for you yet.
