Roakley,
You just proved my point...
It is actually a two part analysis and perhaps the points are getting jumbled so let me try to seperate them out..
1) The requirement of a shop owner to require a Nitrox sticker on a tank in order to fill the tank means absolutely nothing.. The design of the sticker is such that it only insures that at one time or another that tank was 02 cleaned. To that end a diver could take the tank, with the fancy stickers on there, get it filled with the dirtiest air for 10 months and then bring it into a shop and get Nitrox fills.. Acordingly, the sticker did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to insure that such tank is 02 clean;
2) So what are you left with??? The reality of the situation which is that very often tanks are filled with 02 despite the fact that such tank is no longer 02 clean.. For sure it would be preferable to 02 clean the tank, but the reality is that you could still PP blend a tank that has been exposed to hydrocarbonated air.. Anybody telling any differently is living in fantasyland, because it is done every single day...
It's the difference between book smarts and real world experience...
