"1) Glenn, you misunderstood me, the people at Halcyon ARE genius! They have hands down the BEST rig you can buy at any price."
Nope, I don't have one and at the time I'm not in the market for one. But again, your view of them being the "BEST" is nothing more than your opinion and the opinion of others. It doesn't matter how many opinions you have on your side, it will never be fact.
"2) The bend has NOTHING to do with the angle the slot was punched at."
So it is a design flaw then? If the angle of it is causing the chaffing that is occouring and removing the angle would reduce or eliminate the chaffing, then it is a design flaw.
"3) a 4" angle grinder would not fit in a 1/4" x 2 1/4" slot (and would leave a nastier surface than ANY present day finish!)"
You are not putting the grinder in the slot, just running it around the edges of to take off the sharp corner.
"5) A hunk of stainless in that grade will run you $50 at the cheapest metal yard IF you can find it. Then the setup to punch or cut the basic shape alone at a shop will run $100.00. The 6 bends for one unit in the range of $150-$200 and the 13 slots and 22+ holes setup and punched another $200(IF you get em where they belong!) then finishing the edges of all openings Minimum $15 labor. "
All I can say is you are getting robbed.
"6) DIR is a new thing to you isn't it?"
Not a new thing to me. I've read about it before and had interest in it for about 12 seconds then turned the page. I really couldn't care less about it.
"In fact some of those explorers ARE Halcyon and DIR is the method"
Again, back to the marketing thing. With Halcyon selling DIR videos and DIR knives, of course they have a stake in this. DIR looks to be going from a 'holistic' approach to diving to another marketing campaign.
