It is irresistable to analyse this - but we are really speculating about important facts. What caused the buddies to separate at 50 ft? Why buddy breathing instead of an octo? How was the diver weighted -- if he ascended from 120 to 50 wouldn't there be sufficient air expansion to remain bouyant? Attaching a pony hose to the BC wouldn't be a solution -- orally inflating would.
