I was with an OOA diver on the surface in choppy seas off San Miguel. I donated my reg with a custom molded mouthpiece and the diver spit it out because of the unfamiliar feeling. The length of my Air ll was too short to give to her. I am wondering if in the future I go to a two reg setup like DIR if it is not a good idea to donate my primary to an OOA diver because of the weird mouthpiece. Might someone spit it out even though they were OOA underwater? Do people ever have a long hose on the backup reg and donate that instead? If so how is the hose stored and where is the second reg attached?
