Here we are killing and injuring recreational divers in our open ocean, or so it seems. I am looking for data on the local problems of late. The it will be interesting to see if there is anything that stands out that can be addressed.

Here is the kind of stuff I think we could look for. Did they have a plan when they entered the water or did they each think their buddy had a plan? Were they diving solo deep with no backup air supply? These kinds of things can be useful to know since it allows simple changes in things like DM briefings and commercial boat policies to be useful. It also allows us to see what level of reduction could be anticipated from potential changes.

The data might show that things are going along pretty well and we ought to accept these statistics as random unrelated occurances. It might also point to unique things that ought to be in CA training that is not in the agencies' standards.
