Our thoughts are with you and your family.

To a much smaller degree, it is tough on all of us who love the sport when we lose a fellow diver. It is a reminder to us all that we are mortal, and the sport we love can potentially end our lives.

All of us deal with this in our own way. Unfortunately, some of us usually try to distance ourselves from any incident by emphasizing possible mistakes that were made, and by assuring the rest of the community that we would not have made the same mistakes. You may not want to take these comments too seriously. Every diver empathizes with you and your family, because whether they will admit it publicly or not, each of us has likely considered what effects our not returning from a dive will have on those we leave behind.

If it were me, I'd prefer people concentrated on the fact I was doing something I loved.
