The purpose of taking a class is not to impress the instructor or the other students. The purpose of instruction is to learn the theory, skills, and techniques of safely doing the activity. In "deep" diving there are considerations that might not be obvious. Doing the first one as part of training with your instructor is the best way to go. You will learn many things that will make it safe and enjoyable to dive at greater recreational depths.
