I recommend that if you desire to buddy up before the trip, you shoudl tell more about yourself.
For example, what do you want to do on the dives: Hunt, Photo, Sightsee, etc.
What is your experience/comfort level. Another thing that might be beneficial is if you offer to sign a waiver of liability to prospective buddies. OK maybe I am a bit odd about that, but I feel better that my buddies sign one as I sign one for them.
