Okay, seahunt, so what the best way to catch them? Bring leather gloves, and just grab them? Should I use my knife to break off the spines first? Just drop them into the collection bag and go?

I put my hand down on a small one by mistake last week, while I was going for a lobster, and a spine went right through my kevlar glove and broke off in my middle finger tip. Fortunately id didn't sink in past the skin but it throbbed like hell for the rest of the night and next day. I tried getting it out with a needle, so it stayed in there all week. Finally last night I got out my pocket knife and dug it and the hardened little ball of skin that formed around it, out. Feels much better today.
