Your right with your, that is exactly what happens with the IQ pack.
People put it on loose and give a big yank and off they go. I have not seen any quick release buckles break yet but its a matter of time.
As for the Harness. You adjust the shoulders by changing the length of the shoulder straps where the D-rings attach. You have to see it to really understand but trust me its a pain in the as*.
