I used to live in South Florida (Boca Raton). That's the region that most peole think of as being representative of Florida diving. There are some hard-core locals and LOTS of tourist divers who blindly listen to what the kid at the shop tells them.

What many shops used to do was put tanks in a chilled water bath so that they could get high pressures with fast fills. I thought that it was just great that I could get a 3200 psi fill in 10-15 minutes that would be 3500 psi after driving my tanks to the docks in the sub-tropical sun. We used to think that shops that "only" put 3000 psi in an AL 80 were tight.

No doubled burst discs - just young and dumb divers who were lucky not to get hurt or worse...
