There is more to diver buoyancy than the wetsuit and tank. Knowing that one wetsuit has 18 pounds and another has 8, will help to do the adjustments based on warm versus local diving. If you just weight for the wetsuit and tank you are leaving out a bunch of metals and floaty stuff that add or subtract from the diver's bouyancy.
