You are correct in your anlaysis, but a point that bears mentioning is that if a diver strictly follows a Buhlman algorithm whether table based or computer based, the diver will be penalized for the stops because the algorithm will require added deco time...
The shape of the deco curve is critical, and we believe deep stops help shape the curve to an acceptable form...
