In places where you see the "resort" divers, they do a better job of quizzing the divers before letting them on the boat. Here, you have to be a bit hardcore to even enter the water. It is cold and vis is usually less than 100 feet. So here it is not seen the same as in warm places.
Frankly I would like to see more interaction with the divers and crew. With a six-pack it is easy. With 38 divers, it is a bit harder. But I think that the DM could do a walk around and meet the divers. Some may be in need of a bit of guidence that will make their dives better. If the DM talks to everyone, then the ones who need the help will not feel singled out.
