Yeah but sometimes you just can't help the wreckless abandon that drives some divers. After 't-shirt' shopping in Key Largo and witnessing some divers being told they couldn't dive the duane (120' and stiff currents) because they had no log book proof I proceeded to my boat (another shop) only to see these two guys on the boat with us going to the Duane. I asked the DM what these guys were doing on this boat when the other boat denied them. They said these guys had log book experience (later I found out they wrote it up on the way to the other shop). So logs are not fool proof for a few deep dives or recent deep dive experience. when I review logs I look for long term discrepencies (ie lots of shallow stuff punctuated by recent deeper dives...shouts garbage to me)..
