No, Wayne, I argue that you cannot sign away your right to litigate. Courts may or may not absolve responsibility based on a signed waiver. I agree that were I ever to buddy dive I'd make damn sure the potential buddy signed his/her bloody life away before I'd enter the water with him/her (some possible exceptions for hers ;-) )
As to log books: creative writing, not to be believed or trusted.
