The majority of nitrox courses out there are a joke. If one is going to treat them as serious, then an online course qualifies just as well.

As the basic level, where EADs and MODs are covered in the fluffy PADI style, it's so trivial that the instructor doesn't matter, or even need to be there.

In more useful courses, where table theory is discussed and more serious attention paid to the potential for oxtox, the instructor matters again. But those basic courses aren't doing it.

Despite claims otherwise, air isn't going away. Look at how LA is holding onto it. And the tourist trade for Florida will never need to leave it for their 30-50ft reef diving.
