Brian wrtote: "I do think that I should be able to do some of my own recreational diving where I don't have to supervise a new diver. I've refused to buddy with new divers when my dive plan was beyond their experience level. I've even had crews ask me to change my dive plan, but I've stood firm on being able to get in pleasure dives when that was the reason for the trip."

Personally, I agree with you 100%. I'm always amazed, though, at how many of us are reluctant to say "Sorry, no" when asked to supervise when we're vacationing or not "on duty."

(Of course, if they do ask you to help out, make sure you let them know you'll expect a cut of the tips at the end of the trip. Bet they'll change their tune in a hurry.)
