Recently, I was asked to change my plans on a local boat. The shop who had the charter wanted someone to buddy with a rusty, non-local diver. They offered to give me back the money for the boat ride and to pay me for my time. I had other committments on the boat so I could not do it, but they did not ask me to give freebies and I respected that very much.
