They trashed the entire genus. I agree that taxifolia is a menace, but it's rather rare in the trade. Typical case of knee-jerk reaction.
Sometimes the cure is worse than the disease... Yeah, lets ban an entire genus of plant because someone might dump a rare species in a storm drain somewhere near the Southern California shoreline. That's good planning.
