1. Short is short. 1/4 inch, 1/8 inch, 1/16 inch, they're all illegal.

2. If you take bugs that are close to the line, there's a chance that you'll make a mistake when measuring. You gambled. You lost. Pay the fine.

3. You didn't explain how you measured the bug or how you were so sure it wasn't short. Why should we believe that you are right and the warden is wrong? Sometimes what isn't said is significant.

4 I don't blame the warden for not using your gauge. How would the warden know that your gauge was accurate? He knows his gauge is because he measured it.

5. Did you ask if DFG froze the bug for evidence? Sometimes they do.

6. "I refuse to plead guilty and they reduced the charge to an infraction. This is my first ticket and I still refused to plead guilty..It seems that even the judge at the Readiness hearing is upset that I don't have a lawyer"

Have you considered that the judge might be irritated more by your attitude rather than by the fact that you don't have a lawyer?
