That's no news to me, that's what I see (respectively don't see) every time I dive and I am aware of it. This is why I wrote what I wrote and it is why I think a self sufficient solo diver is safer than any of those casual buddy teams. But just to say it explicitly, I believe that a well coordinated and well cooperating buddy team offers a higher degree of safety.
