My Reef is tropical, so the water is very warm. If you want to do a local tank it's important to keep the water cold..Back when I was a lot younger, I had a local tank which I kept cold by running the cold water from the house through a plastic hose that went through the tank. Every week we would let the tanks quests go back in the sea and use our Slurp Guns to find new critters..But that was in Canada and we didn't pay for water....Scripps Aquarium in SD gives pure filtered Seawater Free.. it's much better than Salt Mixtures
