I was with a few other people who wanted to walk around Avalon and didn't want to wait for the instructor's class to end. I wouldn't think of asking him in front of his students. Since this is not something that is part of the curriculum of any certifying agency I know of, I figured it was just something the instructor does. I wasn't laughing at him, merely curious to know if there are others that dive this way. I'd never seen anyone do it on purpose.
