The short answeer to your question is yes, I've seen this off and on before. But I'm curious about one thing.

Did you bother to approach the instructor and ask WHY he had everything rigged that way . . . or were you merely content to sit back and laugh at him?

Assuming the latter was the case, wouldn't that be the same as seeing someone exit the water with a 7' hose wrapped around their torso and instead of finding out WHY they were doing it that way, just mocking them because they didn't conform to your style of diving?

I mean, wouldn't you assume there was SOME reason for this configuration and wouldn't it be useful to know the reasoning behind it before dismissing it as useless?

Just wondering.
