Plugging your nose while sneezing will definently injure your ear drums much sooner and probably much worse than your lungs. "If one has injurd themselves doing this..without actaually knowing it..." Ascending while holding your breath causes your lungs to expand and when they expant to much they dont actually pop but tissue breaks and well...you get it. Im no doc but I think your chest would REALLY hurt and you would have problems breathing so I dont think it would be possible to not know. Definently see a dive doc and call DAN.
