i used to think that diving was supposed to be exercise, but when i'm in the water, i am totally relaxed, and swimming, even chasing after bugs with the XL jets just doesn't cut it. In the tropics, it's like just soaking in a lukewarm pool for 5 hours a day. I can't remember the last time i felt sore from diving, not even after cardiac hill or trudging back up the stairs at Vets' park or Shaw's Cove.
I swim laps and cycle for exercise for the purpose of staying fit for diving (currents, offgassing) or 6000m peaks but if all goes as planned, the diving itself is no exertion whatsoever.
