I am assuming that if you state that you had mediastinal emphysema, you also heard the word spontaneous pneumothorax from where ever you heard it. a spontaneous pneumothorax would be a BIG BIG risk, essentially removing diving from your list of activities compatible with a long and reasonably healthy life. #1 stop should be to see your local dive doc or call DAN.Good Luck!
