I hope you'll excuse an Englishman invading your site. I'm visiting California in May, and we willl be staying in Monterey for 2 weeks (from 16 to 31). I am very keen to dive while I'm there. As I have never dived in the Pacific Ocean before (I've done aroung 250 dives, and I'm well used to cold water), I was wondering if you guys could give me the benefit of your experience. Do you have recommendations for a good dive shop? Is the shore diving good, or is the boat diving better (I'm the only diver in a party of 4, and I won't be popular if I disappear all day, every day on a boat)? Any / all ideas gratefully received.
