Welcome to California. The diving can be great.
Monterey is probably the most popular diving area
north of the Channel Islands.
There are a few good dive boats there including
the Silver Prince. That may be your best bet in
May since it can still be a bit windy and rough
at that time of year.
There is shore diving, but it can be crowded (Cannery
Row) or treacherous (Monastery). If you want to shore
dive, you should make local connections with a shop or
club.
For essays about diving that area and a coastal guide, check out www.diver.net/seahunt
Click on the link at the top of the BBS to the
California Californai Dive Boat Page with a listing of all California
Dive Boats, ordered by location.
Go to www.diver.net and you will find links to sites that would
tell you the most about California diving.
Using the link to California Diving News (http://www.saintbrendan.com/)
should enable you to get in touch with local shops
and clubs.
Enjoy the diving, seahunt
