I was kidding about the utility of a gizmo that would stop the freefalling idiot at a prescribed depth like an invisible bungee cord.

You were right about all the points you made that such a diver should not be on a deep dive at all, and sending him rocketing back up adds all kinds of excitement to the mix. But at least body revocery woudl be a cinch since the fellow would be bobbing at the surface. And if we add the optional auto flare gun and smoke grenade... There I go again. Well off to Avalon -- without gear -- to play tourist. If anyone is at the park, I will be guy looking into the water longingly and wishing that the wife's family were not a bunch of landlubbers.
