Well, I guess it depends on how this gizmo stops the descent. There are lots of ways to arrest a descent including a bangstick to the head. With this thing, does it inflate the BC until the diver gives up struggling? What then?

Seriously, Wayne,

1. Why is there a "once every five years" diver on a wall dive? Wouldn't it make sense to take this person on a series of shallow reef dives, after the refresher course, of course, before tossing them over the wall. The resort makes a lot more monay that way and doesn't have to buy this silly device in the first place.
2. If this device "stops" the descent as suggested above, then the diver is going to be potentially seriously buoyant until the device vents gas from the BC.
3. If it doesn't vent in the case of 2 above, you have an EBA in the making.
4. Doesn't the dive opperator take on product liability for issuing this device, in the first place, to someone they're obviously concerned about in the second (see 1 above)?
5. If the thing just beeps I suppose it couldn't hurt, unless it malfunctions.
6. Did you just gig me with a troll? If so, well done.
