I cannot tell you how many spark plugs I have found under water. I have to suppose that there have been many unreported wrecks where the only part of the wreckage to survive are the sparkplugs from the engine (super tough corrosion resistant alloys, I think). It must be true, because you never find the engine block, just a plug here or there. The other possibility is the use of barges for floating "Tune-up Masters" chain, but I have found no records indicating such a business in the western US since Champion started making plugs. This is much stranger than all those Barbie dolls swimming out and drowning.
