I leave them attached to my tank, open the valve, charge them, then soak. Max and Chris said they just soak, but I was warned, and it seems true, that unless the hose is charged water could backflow into the 1st stage. I have a sherwood with the bleed off, but it is such a small trickel of air that even after 6 hours of soaking I've never noticed a drop off on pressure.
