I just did a day trip to Avalon and back for a family bike ride. We had five on board, five bikes, and a ton of sodas. I used 35 gallons for 46 nm. Hmmm. what is that 1.3 or so? Anyway I was pretty happy about it.

But I cannot do long trips in it, and it is really, really hard to fuel at sea because of the placemnet of the gas inlet. She is a Searay 25' express cruiser with a single 330 hp 454cid chevy. We made 23 knots each way beause the water was nice. 3200 RPM. And it has a single 100 gallon tank. If I slow down to 10 kts, I use the same gallons per hour, but can't go anywhere far.

Clearly the good skiff is a better dive boat, but the wife and kids want the Searay or they will not go out.
