Ok, who opened the Pandora's box? Ask for an opinion about any scuba gear, agency or dive site and you will get opinions and arguements. Force fins vs conventional fins, is an example of the unanswerable question. Force fins can be fast, however, they will never be as fast as diver who can use a true and proper kick stroke. ( the world underwater distance record is held by a German military diver wearing force fins. This record though is dubious since another German military diver swam 300M less in distance in 2 hours less time. The second diver stopped due to regulator freeze up.
For the diver who "bicycles" the force fin is ideal. With nothing to press on the toes, and little pressure on the arch there is less chance of muscle spasm and cramps.
In deciding which fin to use, one must assess their kick, gear requirements and physical condition.
I wish all who enter this fin debate the best of luck. I believe that we will have peace in the middle eas before this debate is decided.
