You'll be happy to know that Roy is recovering from his bouts with depression and booze. His DCI hit wasn't due to negligence, it was due primarily to our collective ignorance of ascent rate knowledge back in the "good old days". You could say he was a victim of 60 feet per minute, no safety stop, which was the criteria as long as we stuck to table NDL's. Those were indeed the dark ages of diving. There but for the Grace of God go many of us dinosaur divers.
