Sunday nite. I live ten minutes from here but had NEVER dived it. Viz in Laguna Saturday am was crappy, but at 7:30 pm, viz at Malaga was 15 or so, very nice.
Slight swell, so we entered from the sand. Led to a long surface swim, but no biggie. Dropped down in the dusk to 16 fsw, and headed due west, following the reef along the coast. Easy to navigate here, rock ridges run parallel to shore, sand ridges in between give more guidance.
18 fsw, saw an angel shark. Always heard these were in deeper waters. Saw two more this dive all above 20 fsw. Horn shark, octo out in the open, shovelnose guitarfish, sheep crabs.
27 fsw for 67 minutes. Had we not been worried about getting towed starting about 9ish, would've been near a two hour dive, maybe.
Nothing beats ascending to a glassy surface at night, staring up at the stars on a moonless night. Always sleep well after nite dives.
