What's the best place for a beach dive in Orange County

I am new to Southern California and am looking for a good place to go diving from a beach entry in either Orange County, or south L.A. county. Primarily, I am looking for a good cross section of wildlife and terrain features, but preferably someplace with easy access. I don't fancy trekking my gear down some goat path that supposedly exists on the side of a shear 90' cliff.

Any help or comments would be great.
