Were you with the class, or do you know whose class it was? I heard the version you report, but I heard other versions, also; one from a diver who reported recovering the student's weight belt and mask.
None of those versions that I received, until I saw this BBS, involved the Sue-Jac, and of course, no one who routinely instructs or is medically trained with whom I spoke exhibited the embarassingly callous attitude attached to the Sue-Jac version of things set out in other posts here. Pretty low-rent.
