Outside of my OW and AOW training, all of my (16) dives have been beach dives.

Living in South OC, Laguna Beach has so many nice dive sites that it’s not always worthwhile to take your boat out for a dive a two. Sure it’s an ordeal to find parking and climb the stairs for a beach dive, but diving with your own boat can be a hassle as well.

First you have to get it ready to go out and make the trip to the dive spot. Then you are either lucky enough to have a friend hang out and fish while you’re diving, or hope the anchor is well set so the boat is there when you return. Finally there is the trip back to the dock, and the scrubbing down of the boat. It’s definitely a full day affair.

A nice simple beach dive in the morning and you are done and sipping coffee by 10:00am.

While the first beach entry was a challenge, all have been smooth since.
